Aiken, S.C. (January 16, 2025) – Rural Health Services is honored to welcome Dr. John Ferguson, MD, a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with over 41 years of experience, to the team at the new Women and Children’s Center. Dr. Ferguson’s extensive career and dedication to providing compassionate, high-quality care make him an invaluable addition to the center.
Dr. Ferguson earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed his residency training in Charlotte, North Carolina. He began his career as a Naval Medical Officer, serving for four years, before dedicating 34 years to private practice in Reidsville and Greensboro, North Carolina. Since 2021, he has taken on locum tenens roles in Murrells Inlet and Columbia, South Carolina, providing care where needed.
Now settling in Aiken, Dr. Ferguson is eager to get to know his new community while serving at the Women and Children’s Center. He views the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology as a meaningful and demanding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women and their families.
In his free time, Dr. Ferguson enjoys gardening, bicycling, and spending time as an enthusiastic grandparent. He is proud to join an organization dedicated to delivering excellent healthcare for all and looks forward to contributing to the center’s mission of service.
