Health Fair Brings Dozens of Providers to Hartsville YMCA

HARTSVILLE, SC – Organized by the Darlington County Coordinating Council (DC3) in partnership with the YMCA, SC Works of the Pee Dee, and CareSouth Carolina, the Hartsville YMCA recently hosted a community health and resource fair, providing local residents with access to essential healthcare services, screenings, and educational resources. 

CareSouth Carolina’s team was on-site offering free health screenings, including Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, Body Mass Index, Diabetes, Hypertension, and Nutrition. Its dedicated staff also shared information about its medical, dental, and behavioral health programs, and engaged attendees with preventive health education and access to valuable services.

Christy Beasley, Community Health Educator with CareSouth Carolina, provided educational materials on Matter of Balance and Mental Health First Aid, two free programs designed to promote wellness, prevent falls among seniors, and offer mental health support. Representatives from Care Innovations and Vantage Point were also present, distributing information on specialized healthcare services available to residents.

In addition to healthcare services, the event also featured the SC Works Career Coach, a 32-foot mobile unit designed to bring job search and employment readiness resources directly to the community. This mobile workforce center, equipped with Wi-Fi, computer workstations, and accessibility features, provided job seekers with resume assistance, employment searches, and career counseling.

Genesis Healthcare was also in attendance with its Mobile Health Care Unit, which serves a crucial role in providing medical services during emergency situations, including natural disasters.

Other notable organizations at the event included Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, McLeod Access Health, Absolute Total Care, Clemson Extension, Darlington County Community Action Agency, Department of Mental Health, Department of Public Health, DSS, Duke Energy, Epworth Children’s Home-Kinship Program, Guardian Ad Litem, Head Start Academy, Health Learners, Humana, ISAGENIX, Kalmia Wellness, Man to Man, Molina Healthcare of South Carolina, Nurse Family Partnership, Palmetto Project, Pee Dee Coalition, Pee Dee Healthy Start, SC Legal, SC Vocational Rehab, SCWorks, Select Health of South Carolina, Senior Life Insurance, Welvista, and Wilson Senior Care.

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center provided lunch for all the vendors present.

Beyond healthcare, attendees had access to a variety of services, including employment assistance, veterans’ resources, Medicaid enrollment, and nutrition counseling—all in one convenient location. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing the community’s health, social needs, and access to quality healthcare.
